LIFE STORIES

Although the record opens with the guitar driven rock song with “Bud Draft Billy” (dedicated to the memory of local bar friend to all Billy King), “Life Stories” features a folk and acoustic sound that perfectly matches the stories the songs tell.

In addition to six new original songs, Tom collaborates with old New Jersey friend and neighbor Mark Englert by providing lyrics and vocals to Mark’s music on the Jersey Shore inspired “Shanty By The Shore”. The vocals were recorded during an informal jam session weekend in a Las Vegas condo in March 2017 where Tom’s favorite original song “That Way” (from his first record “The Search Goes On”) was also recorded. Mark plays on the song and produced it as well. He also provides his usual outstanding electric guitar, dobro and ukulele work on a number of songs throughout the record.

Tom covers renowned folk singer John Gorka’s “People My Age”, and his favorite Harry Chapin song “Story of a Life”, while the record closes with a beautiful original song by his daughter Jessie Potosnak.

Jay Fernandes of Saucer Sound provides his matchless keyboard, bass, arrangement and production talents on all songs (except “That Way” and “Shanty By The Shore” which were produced by Mark Englert).

SUBJECT TO CHANGE

With the outstanding work of old friend and guitarist/musician nonpareil Mark Englert (Dramarama), the songs on "Subject To Change" cross seamlessly into multiple genres to include rock, country rock, blues and folk.

Tom's writing continues to be grounded in thoughtful and entertaining story driven lyrics and Mark's outstanding contributions on lead and rhythm guitar, dobro, ukulele, lap steel and e-bow help take his sound to new and varied heights. John Fury provides great drum work and Jay Fernandes compliments everything perfectly with his expert bass, keyboard and production work!

NO WAY OUT BUT THROUGH

Featuring strong story songs that reflect a sense of both coming to terms with life's harsher truths while somehow holding on to a sense of hope and wonder inspite of it all. Musically this record appeals to a wide listener base as it not only tells interesting stories and offers thoughtful perspectives but it also has more of an up tempo folk/rock flavor to it. With strong bass lines and solid drumming there is also beautiful piano, organ, lead guitar, harmonica and percussion accompaniment. It took ten years to finally record another CD after The Search Goes On but the end result is worth the wait.
